Call NowServicesI’m Barbara. Back in 2004, I completed a degree in Psychology and a diploma in counselling and worked as a behavioural therapist with children with a diagnosis of autism and adults suffering from various disorders and mental health issues. I have a caring nature and I enjoy helping others. After years of living in London, stuck in the rat race, I moved to Cambridge, searching for more fulfilment. I think it’s important to find the right balance between work and quality of life, so it doesn’t negatively affect every other area of your life.
The things that push me forward: I have a fantastic vitality for life, which drives me positively in most situations. I love personal growth, innovative courses, and human transformation from mind, body, and soul. One of my purposes is to stay young, maximise my abilities and energy, and avoid doctors and hospitals. I want the freedom to do everything I love, like swim, ride, hike, walk, and run. This is why I am passionate about my work and helping others achieve a high degree of mobility and fitness. I want to contribute positively by providing a good service to people needing my skills to enhance their health and lifestyle.
What brings me here: I have a passion for health and fitness. I have been a Personal Trainer Level 3 Diploma for the last 14 years and a Yoga & Pilates instructor; I have been involved in many different sports and physical practices. Having had times where injury has prevented me from attending sessions, I understand the physical and psychological challenges of being injured. This motivates me to help clients move better and reach their full potential through Soft Tissue Therapy and Sports Massage. I have a Level 5 Diploma in Soft Tissue & Remedial Therapy from the Cambridge School of Sports Massage and the Institute of Sports and Remedial Massage.
If you suffer from general muscle pain, reduced mobility, stress-related or computer aches and pains, I would love to help you. If you are recovering from an injury that is lingering and getting in the way of your training, I would love to help you.
At Cambridge BodyOne Massage, my #1 goal is to get you back doing what you love to do!
"Give the world the best you have, and the best will come back to you."
Swedish massage is extremely therapeutic as it decreases muscle toxins, increases oxygen levels in the blood, and improves flexibility in the body. Swedish massage combines various hands-on techniques including gliding, kneading, and cross-fibre friction to break up muscle knots, called adhesions. The goal of Swedish Massage is to melt away muscle tension and increase the blood flow to your heart. If you feel overworked, stressed, or have tense muscles, a Swedish massage may be a great way to begin reviving your body and mind. Since this massage is well known for relieving muscle tension, Swedish therapy can be both relaxing and rejuvenating.
Deep tissue massage is a massage technique which targets the inner layers of muscles and connective tissue. Using a combination of deep, slow, and rhythmic pressure or friction, the technique allows your massage therapist to target specific areas with a much deeper pressure than other massage techniques. Why is the pressure necessary you may ask? So, they can release a build-up of tension, tightness, or pain, held deep within the muscle and connective tissue. This massage uses slow strokes and deep pressure to work on tight areas to release specific muscle tension and restore flexibility. Deep-tissue massage is generally slower than Swedish, this technique goes deeper into the muscle and connective tissue to release chronic tension which might have developed from injury or overuse. This massage is beneficial for athletes and those who sit for long periods.
Sports massage is an effective treatment for muscular problems from physical activity, poor posture, repetitive actions, stress and even long hours of inactivity. It’s a common misconception that it’s for Sports people only and in fact is suitable for all ages and levels of activity. A large component of Sports Massage is Deep Tissue Massage – but the main difference is the more clinical approach where your therapist will use a range of techniques to achieve a desired outcome with less focus on relaxation. That desired outcome is often reducing aches and pains but it could also be getting a client ready for a sporting event, speeding up recovery after an endurance event or helping reduce muscular tension from long hours at work. We use a combination of oil-based techniques and stretching. Perfect for athletes of all levels.
Remedial massage is a type of massage therapy that targets specific areas of the body to provide relief from pain, tension, and other issues. It is a form of therapeutic massage that combines a variety of manual techniques to help reduce and prevent pain and other physical ailments. Remedial massage can be used to help reduce muscle tension and stiffness, improve circulation, increase mobility, and aid in the healing process. Unlike other forms of massage, it is highly individualized and tailored to specific needs.
Muscle pain matters: it's an important problem. Trigger point therapy is a specialized form of manual therapy aimed at relieving muscular pain and dysfunction caused by trigger points – localized areas of hyperirritability within taut bands of muscle fibres. The therapy involves applying targeted pressure to these trigger points, often using fingers, thumbs, elbows, or specialized tools, to release the tension stored within the muscle. By applying sustained pressure to these areas, therapists aim to deactivate the trigger points, thereby alleviating pain, improving range of motion, and restoring normal muscle function. I can help you to release a trigger point and you will notice a distinct reduction in symptoms over the next several hours.
